I am running a Mcleod street twin and aluminum flywheel with a Lakewood scattershield which has been dialed in. I am using a Lakewood pivot ball, correct throwout bearing and a new GM clutch fork. It seems as if the fork springs do not engage with the pivot ball properly. Is anyone else running this combo of parts. I got everything back together and I am not getting any clutch pedal at all. No matter what I do I can't get the feeling of the bearing against the pressure plate springs. Pedal just goes to the floor with no resistance. I had this all in before at the same adjustment points and it was fine. Any ideas. Thanks,
I remember reading something a while back about problems with the lakewood setups and GM forks. If you don't already have one, pick up an adjustable pivot ball stud and adjust that until you feel it working properly. They're cheap and readily available. Sounds like you might need more thread on that pivot ball stud to get the fork closer and increase the throw.
But I do agree with Clutchdust....you had this working before? before what? the new engine?
Sorry about the confusuion. I had this same clutch, bellhousing, pivot ball etc. running before I pulled the motor. Same adjustment at the pushrod as well. The pivot ball is an adjustable Lakewood. When Nick(Liverpool32) and I put everything back together, he commented on how the clutch fork doesn't seem to sit right on the pivot ball. We actually had to bend the springs on the fork a little to get it on the pivot ball. It is a new GM fork. It seems as if the GM pivot ball is a liitle more rounded at the back whereas the Lakewood is flat. I always heard there were problems with the Lakewood forks with Vettes but not with the GM forks and the Lakewood shields. Any more ideas? Thanks,
Bill

i have a lakewood shield on mine and the fork hole is large enough that i can see inside with a small flashlight. have you inspected the engagement of the fork to the TOB to make sure it's correct? you may need a mirror to do it with the assembly in the car.
You shouldnt have had to bend the springs on the fork. They go up under the ball, they slide under it.
Did you get the fork in the furthest groove away from the clutch?
