I'm in the process of pulling my smoking 383 (bad guides). I just bought a built 406 Small block. 10.2 comp/ comp 284 Magnum cam, roller rockers that I planned to put in the vette. Now I have just run on to a 69 427 just built but with 9.0 comp and not overly aggressive cam. Which way to go??? My car is an original 427 car, will it be worth significantly more with a "mild" 427? I can get the 427 for about $2500 or a little less. THOUGHTS please!!!
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Pretty tought decision, if not the original 427ci then I am not too sure it would be of that much additional value to the car. I do think it would sell easier with the 427ci as it was an original big block and there are still many out there that don't know what a 406ci is. Personally I would put the 406ci in, can be a fun motor
If I had to rob the local McDonalds to get the scratch together for both, I would! The 427 freshly built for $2500 or less is a steal. But the built 406 would be a blast. The 427 would add value to the car since it is a BB car to begin with and it definitely would make it more attractive at resell time.
Just kidding about that robbery thing...
