Available at any AdvancedAuto store, 2.5" straight thru design, welded construction, as heavy as the flowmasters, not that cheap and cheasy crimped design

Maybe at www.fatmat.com ...lol. Is about 1/2 the price. If you were to ride in my 383 with Flow 40's, you would appreciate how well it works.

Taken from the Flowmaster web site:

{Super 40 - Two Chamber High Performance Mufflers
The Super 40 is our latest development utilizing "Gen II Delta Flow" technology. This gets you the best of both worlds of Sound and Performance. The Super 40 has that "deep powerful" sound of the original 40 series but with all the benefits of performance and low interior resonance from the "Delta Flow technology."}

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/40_super.html

Alot of people don't realize that there is a Super40 muffler, and everyone talks about how bad the resonance is with the 40's. When I was buying my muflers, I chose the Dynomax Super Turbos because I did not want that bad resonance, but I was very unhappy with the sound from them. When the Super40's came out, I jumped at the chance to get rid of the Dynomax mufflers, and what a difference the Super40's made to the sound of my car! It was like a night and day difference, and there is almost no resonance. Super40 is not the same as 40, there is a difference.

And now for your viewing pleasure, the Super40's installed on my car:

Flomaster may claim that they are quiet, but they are still too loud for my taste. I neglected to type the word "super" in front of the 40 on my earlier post. Flowmasters under a fiberglass echo chamber is just too much noise in my opinion. Now, as for the set on my Yukon XL, they sound fine. That is the opinion of this OLD guy. Everyone my have their own opinion For the record, my 16 year old son even thought the flomasters were a bit much in my 80. He thinks that the Dynomax sound much better. Slightly Louder than stock, until you get on it. Then they are right up there with the Flowmasters, without the headache.

Well 3rd_vette I am no kid, I got you beat by 4 more years and my wife and I talk while driving all the time. This muffler thing is like talking Politics, no one wins and everybody thinks they are right!! I got Super Delta 40's on my 1950 Chevy Coupe and it is louder that the Vette because it has a lot more Hoursepower. The Super Delta 40's are what I wanted on the Vette but they were too big to fit right.

We had a C-6 pull up to the shop front door a few months ago. I have great hearing, and I didn't even hear him pull up. He said "I'm driving a Corvette, can you make it sound like a Corvette?". Fixed him up with some polished Corsa mufflers. Now I hear him when he pulls up!

That's hilarious!

A buddy of mine has a C5 ZO6, and I recently put a set of Borlas on it for him, now it sounds like a vette! There is nothing worse than a Corvette that sounds like a Cadillac!!

I have Flowmaster Delta 40's, cant hear the Wife talk much, I just nod and smile at her & lay into the throtte. She thinks it's soo cool & were mid 40's. I agree with Gary, exhausts are very much personal taste, nobody can tell you what sounds best on your car. It depends so much on your horsepower and exhaust velocity. Luckily mufflers arent super expensive. I know Guys (my Brother) that has had 4 different sets of mufflers on his car in two years! He ended up with the 50's, to each thier own. Good luck.

Dont get me wrong. i also enjoy the sound of my Corvette but... My wife and I have been married 30 years and on the times that we take a cruise together, I enjoy talking and hearing what she has to say. I also enjoy having my favorite tunes in the back ground on the c/d player. With my Dynomax mufflers, i have the somewhat quiet inside the cab (unless I have my foot in it, then they are every bit as loud as the super 40's that I had REMOVED). Like I stated before, to each his own on this one. If it is noise you want all the time, go with the flomasters. If you want to keep your hearing long after retirement, get the dynomax. They, I feel are the best of the two options. Lastly, I don't enjoy getting pulled over by the local Deputy Dog that says my car is too loud and with the fix it ticket he hands over, I have to take time out of MY day to prove Im within the law. Some things just are NOT worth the hassel. If you happen to live in an area where the Cops are deaf and leave you alone, Im very happy for you.. I just enjoy getting in my C-3 and Cruise. It still sounds great and now has the power to back it up. Not quite as fast as my 2004, but I get mor looks in the 1980. Enough said....

Awe, I meant no harm, I love my Wife dearly and listen with enthusiasim, I was just kiddin around. I've been married 26 years (yes to the same Lady). She does however like it loud, I guess she likes it when people look or it feels more like a hot rod?
On another note, I do have to say, I can't believe how, Yes, we can get pulled over for excessive exhaust noise and be sitting on the roadside with the Sherrif at my door, right as a Harley screams by with open pipes. Geez, they are getting louder all the time, with no legal restrictions. I have never seen one pulled over!! Wassup wit dat?

No one talks about Walker mufflers any where in here. From what I saw the walker uses same tecknology as super 40. With the delta shape baffles inside. I was going to swap out my dynomax for a walker because my dynamax are not the delta design and dyna ultraflow is a strait thru design. Maybe the Super 40 you speak of is a USA item only??

I agree on the too old stuff. I going on 64 and still like the sound of a deep V8. I put 2 1/2" on my 81 with a straight where the convertor should and they are not that loud but sounds too open. Got a free flow
convertor going back on next year. Hope it doesn't affect performance as after I took the 50lb original convertor off the car pulled great from 4000 rpm all the way to 6200 rpm. Don't want to be a law breaker thro.
HA HA By the way!! I got 12.00 bucks for the old convertor from a scrap yard. I guess the pellets are worth something.

Howdy neighbor,
I dont recall seeing an 80 white Vette in town. Do you get it out much?? You may have seen ours parading around town, I like to get it out at least once a week, even if it's just through town and then out on the back roads, actually one of them is called "back road" off of 36.
Hope to see (or hear) you around.

EDLEBROCK RPM's. High quality, good flow, reasonable cost. Sound of course, is a matter of taste.
