I will consider lots of options. I have until spring to decide. The problem is the design of the fan's frame. It's hard to make a single bracket for. I may make a top, and bottom bracket, and use the slide-ties for the other three mounting points.

Still running the old stuff...just had to replace a few parts in the system. Cools quickly and efficiently though.

Good deal. When it does go warm on you, I'd suggest the switch to 134. It's a goow swap to make the further we get away. I've heard that 134 is gonna be done away with in favor of another synthetic coolant in the next few to five years. That could be interesting.

Another question. Since I can't get the support out, where do the seals go on it? There are four. Would it be easier to put these on with the radiator in place, or should I wait for them to come in before installing the radiator?

By the way, I got everything from DeWitts yesterday evening, and it all looks GREAT!!!

You'll want the foam seals first. Install some on the rad, and others on the support for the hood. They should come with instructions.

Ok, so I just figured out that the seals block off the air from going in between the support and the radiator itself, so the radiator will need to be in there I'm guessing.

Tom told me that 71s did not have an expansion tank. Do I need to just run a hose straight down from the overflow on the radiator?

Beat me to it. I just ordered the support seal kit from Zip. I'm guessing it's what I need.

Either that or down to the ground like old-school hot rodders did.

Fellas
I have a 74 4 speed
Trying to install a Dewitts rad. I have posted in General and I have received help but no luck. I cant get my rad back in.
Maybe I will change to Spals but I have to spend the additional cause I cant get the shroud in.

I have:
1. unbolted the shroud and moved it forward as far as possible
2. tried radiator first...shroud wont clear the upper control arms
3. shroud in then the radiator....cant get the lower radiator inlet past the upper control arm.
4. holding the shroud and radiator together and trying install. could not get the shroud past the upper a frame on the drivers side after tilting the radaitor and shroud to clear water pump and radiator inlet past the upper a frame.

any other tips here ...really getting frustrated
Mike

Have you contacted Tom DeWitt? He being the seller is going to have the best advice for you. He is also super nice and will give you all the tech support you need.

Have you taken the three bolts out of each side of the radiator support? These are accessed in the front of each wheel well. Once you take these out, the support will slide forward. Until you do this, I doubt you will be able to get it past the control arm.

swensonm,

The easiest way to install radiator is by:

1 Remove hood (mark where hinges are located for ease in installing).

2 Remove radiator fan (4 nuts).

3 Remove upper and lower radiator hoses.

4 Unbolt radiator support (3 bolts each side and 2 on the bottom and support rod, remove radiator support from car).

5 Clean up radiator support and install new rubber seals while it is out, now lay support on floor and install new radiator on top of support and bolt together, next clean up fan schroud and install new rubber seals, now lay fan schroud on top of radiator and bolt it together with radiator and support.

6 Now lift the whole assembly (support, radiator and fan schroud) into the car it will slide in as one unit, before bolting the support in place install support rod in first then install all bolts.

You don't have to replace all rubber seals if in good shape but I recomend it, do it right the first time and you don't have to do it again later..................

What source should I use for the 12V ignition wire? I've heard of people running it to the ACC or IGN on the fuse box, but I've never hooked anything up here before. Is this the best source, or can I pull it from somewhere else? If it is the best source, how do I do it?
