Wow that's a choice car. Shame you had to sell it.
I had a line on a lovely, no rust, all complete, rolling and barely running '48 SS for $800. I didn't bite, not having the money. I still regret that and it was over five years ago.

If I could afford to have a collection of cars, there would be many cars I'd like to have but that '42 made me feel really old and it was not much fun to drive in the busy city. Street rodding it would have kept my interest longer, but in the late '70s people were just starting to figure out how to do front subframes in fat fendered cars so I went the stock route especially since everything was there.
I like the drivability and feeling I get driving Vettes and muscle cars, because that is what I grew up with. So yes I regret parting with it, but right now I would be struggling to put my daughter through college with no toy in the garage if I had kept it. I'm the type that gets a bigger bang from the build than I do driving it. Then just move on to the next project. So it all worked out.

A few of the cars I've owed over the years that I'd like to have back
1. 1967 Pontiac GTO 4sp, manual steering manual brakes. (No rust, with 150K on the odo - sold it to get my first house <sob>)
2. 1972 Opel GT 1900 (Mini Vette - My first car - got it when I was 15, dad did the body and paint, I did the engine in shop class. Hit everything with it as I was a young idiot.)
3. 1970 Olds vista cruiser 455 - (this is the reason my daily driver is a Dodge Magnum R/T)
4. 1987 Dodge shadow ES turbo - (Brake torque for a few minutes till the boost comes on line)
Of cars I would want to have (and are in the realm of possibility).
1. Any late 60s early 70s Nova (it will be the recipient of the 427 I just installed into my 75 vette)
1.1 <edit> 78 Buick GNX (276 factory rated HP! About as underated as the L88)
2. 68 Plymouth GTX (I almost had one for $800 when I was 18)
3. 1970 Malibo wagon (it may also be the recipient of the 427.. hey if you got a family, they need to enjoy the car too.. )
4. Ferrari F355 (Prices are coming down on these... really really)
5. Mid 80s 928 S4 (If a Cayenne is a Porsche, then so is this.)
6. 85 BMW M6 (Of my all time favorite engine sounds this straight 6 is right up there)
7. Early 70s BMW 2002 Tii Turbo
8. Triumph TR6 - Of the British 2 seaters, this is my favorite.

I want my Big Block monte Carlo back,,,that car was just pure fun, but had to sell it in the early 90's because of money problems...
I also wouldnt mind having my 72 camaro back....simply because of the lack of emissions it would need
Right now I'm in the market for a project Riviera - say early to mid 60's

I've got a '72 Chevelle that I'm quite fond of; sadly, I'll have to sell either it or the '79 Vette ($$$$ problems) - which ever goes first, I guess. I'd love to find a '72 Nova, '70-'72 Monte Carlo, '70-'73 Camaro, but of course money is a major obstacle.

Well, I had a chance to buy a BOSS 429 from a friend of a friend. Wanted $2000, gas crunch was on, was sitting in the shop with 2 flats and the owner had no use for it because it was stick. Crazy fast at that time. I had other things to buy at the time though .... oh well ....
Then there is the $4000 Yenko with a spare (new) motor .....

O.K. I'll come clean, back when things were good and I spent all my free time drag racing and hanging out, a friend of mine ran a garage and did overhauls and such, quite an excellent mechanic/machinist. He was known to build a few engines for the guys that ran really well, anyway he did a lot of machine work and one day this guy brings him in a little Fiat block that needed to be bored, he couldnt do it with his equiptment, the bores were too small, this other friend ran a shop down in Teaneck N.J. U.S. Performance was its name, he specialized mainly in race stuff, motors, chassis, etc. it was an extremely well equipped shop that had a Sunnen Cylinder King machine that would bore and hone a block (of any dimension) quicker then any ordinary boring bar could . Well I asked him if his Sunnen machine could handle that tiny Fiat block and he said it could, I dropped it off for the work for my other friend and when it was at U.S. Performance everyone that saw it said how cute it was and what was it from, Phil being the kidder that he was said to everyone that it was a "henway" when they asked what in the hell was a henway he'd tell 'em about 3 lbs.Yeah,, I know pretty lame,,, I'll shut up for now,,,,,,,,,,Peace,,, Moosie , SEEYA
