Default Carb Question?

I need some advice from a carb guy, here are my engine specs.
Edelbrock Performer Manifold, Crane 262-400 Cam & Lifter Kit, Edelbrock Performer Cylinder Head, Comp Cams Roller Rocker Arms, Edelbrock Roller timing set and a Edelbrock aluminum vic jr water pump.

Now the question, I was given a Holley 4160 list #80457-1 carb, the best I can tell this is 600cmf, are there any mods or upgrades I can do to this or is this good as it it. From everything I have read, I am short a few cfm and don't know if it would even be worth the money to modify it. btw the air conditioning and smog equpt have been removed.

You could replace the main body with Pro-Form piece, and it would flow 750-800 if you need a little more flow. $99

No cam specs stated & C.I. not stated.
Profile shows "Crane Cams Energizer 272 Cam".
Assuming 350 C.I., the 600 is fine.

PS Don't even think about the Proform kit!

That Holley is a vacuum secondary, and it's set up a little on the lean side. The secondary spring is the big, stiff "b;lack" spring, and it will never allow the secondaries to fully open. Here is what I would do to that carb:

First, flip it over and set your transition slot exposure: Set primary side to .020", and then set the secondary idle speed screw (accessible from the bottom) to match the amount that the primary blades are cracked open.

I would increase primary jet size 2 sizes from the stock 64. Drop in a set of 66 jets. Verify that PV is a 6.5 - that should be fine. Set idle mixtrure screws at 1 turn out from lightly seated for an initial setting.

Remove that secondary spring. Buy Holley secondary spring kit part number 20-13. Install the short white spring in your carb.

Once you get it started, set float levels right to the bottom of the bowl plugs. Then set idle mixtures, after warm-up, to produce best quality idle. If you have to significant;y reduce or change the primary idle speed, remove the carb, flip it over, and adjust the secondary idle the same amount - keep the two idle speed screws equally adjusted.

This will give you a very good setup for some nice performance.
