Default Side exhausts

What year were side exhausts offered as a option on the C3? Did the side exhausts have mufflers inside? What was the cost since the body had to be modified to fill in the holes were rear exhaust let out?

69 was the only year that the factory offered sidepipes on a C3.
They did have mufflers in them (they factory sidepipes are considered to be restrictive as far as performance goes.)
They where an extra cost option, they used special rear quarters and rear filler panels with no holes in for a rear exit exhaust.

i think you can buy what is called a lower rear valance or something like that. It fills the exhaust place in the back. Research it a little more, I'm not 100%

What was special about the rear quarters?? I am considering a factory setup, the aftermarket one just aren't my cup o' tea.

I knew about the rear, but not the quarters.

The cut outs for the fctory under car exhaust was half on the quarter, half on the rear panel, factory sidepipe cars did not have the half hole in the quarter and a solid rear panel.

I just had some sidepipes put on my 1971 offered by Paragon Reproductions 888-882-4688, not cheap!!! If you call them, have them send the assembly reference paperwork for the sidepipes ( I think they were offered as an option from 1970 to 1977 through the dealers) and there is a little fiberglass removal under the door sills and then you need the rear valence filler (I have yet to get) but they look great! Good luck

Here's a pic of a side exhaust pipe. I don't know what's inside but is appears to have two chambers. I love them.

69 only from the factory

pretty sure you culd have them on some of the mid years as well, and yes i know he asked about c3, but you can never have enough knowledge.
