Can anyone help me figure this one out! When I turn on my wipers to either low or high speed nothing happens. However, when I push in the switch for the washer the door opens and the wipers work fine-when I let go of the switch the wipers stop and the door closes. I tried replacing the switch, but I still have the same result. Any help would be appreciated.
It sounds like the wires to the switch are connected to the wrong terminals. The wires for the wipers are wired to the washer terminals. Since nothing happens when you move the wiper switch to low or high apparently nothing is wired to the wiper terminals.
Time to get out your shop manual and look at the wiring diagram for the wiper/washer system and find out which color wires control what functions and re-wire accordingly.
If they are terminated correctly at the switch then they are connected wrong downstream at the wiper/washer. You might look for a splice somewhere along the line that is wired wrong also.
I don't know if this would result in your symptoms or not...but have you reversed the electrical connector on the wiper switch (flipped it over by mistake)?
Good call!! I flipped the connector and it works like it rolled off the assembly line. Lesson learned: don't ever assume the previous owner knew what they were doing!!
Many thanks!!

Yup - thats the classic "I reversed my wiper switch connection" symptom.
