I don't know why people are afraid of the power shift, it's not that big a deal. I've been doing it for years with no problems with my engines, trannys, or rear diffs.
Yep, just do it. One of the best ways to enjoy a high performance car.
powershifting is nice, until you shallow shift it by accident..then all the fun is over.
I dont know what a "shallow shift is"? But about lifting, if you lift off the gas you will probably lose as you wont be able to recover the lost time. You can bet the guy in the lane along side of you wont lift! And if you worry about breaking parts, all I can say is good cars rarely break. Thats why there good cars.

Been there, done that, and tagged the rev limiter!
All kidding aside, I don't think I would power shift in a car that didn't have a rev limiter onboard, but you have to admit that laying 40 feet of rubber when you change gears is a lot of fun!

If you have enough power you can granny shift and still light the tires up in the next gear. The only thing that will take a T5 out is power shifting, nothing else will.
A lowly 302 totally stock will destroy a T5 if power shifted too much.
I would rather lift, shift fast but positively and know my tranny will not be destroyed.
Yes I run a tremec and still wouldn't risk it for the small amount of time it saves. Then again my life isn't measured in beating another car.
i think we're not considering the main iussue which is: 'power shifting for drag race/strip or power shifting for a track race?'
both thing are totally different, on the 400 mts all the power must be put on the tarmac with a few seconds and shifting gears can make the difference...instead on a track/hill climbing race, shifting is just a part of a multiple variables iussues, so it's much less important and not a so dramatic matter...
I don't powershift. I've made well over 50 passes with the big block and a bone stock Super T10 4 speed and have never had one tranny problem. I shift as fast as possible while letting off the gas and using the clutch. I have powershifted before and it is fun...but so is drag racing in general. What's not fun is having to sit out because of a blown tranny. If I had the money to replace trannys on a consistant basis I would probably powershift.

No other method of shifting will leave a patch of rubber like power shifting, and doing it every once in a while with street radials will not kill your tranny. I don't blame you or Bence for not power shifting with the trannys you guys have behind your worked-on big blocks; both of your trannys would be destroyed in short order! Ask Motorhead how many Super T10's he went through after putting in his nasty 406!!!
