Default Holley Short Spring Question

I have the Holley spring kit and Lars talks about a short white spring. The only spring in this kit is white, but I would not say it's short, it is about the same size as the others.

I take it this is the spring he is talking about.

If I am looking down the carb and i rev the motor, should I see the secondarys open?

I press one spring against another to find the weakest.

You WILL NOT see the vacuum secondaries open just winging it in the driveway.

Google "holley carb tuning" and you will learn that vacuum secondaries only work under load and are tested at WOT on a dyno.

What problem are you trying to fix? As your Holley carb instruction manual may explain, too light of a secondary spring can cause other problems.

Wish I had the quick change spring kit since changing it out is a pain

Here is a chart from my Holley tuning book, kinda hard to see from this scan so I can e-mail it if you like

BTW It only lists one white spring and 2 yellow, one of which is short.

There are 2 white springs in the kit - one tall (regular size) and one short. The short white is the softest spring and will give you the quickest secondary opening.

I bet I have the tall in there.

No - you can't get the secondaries to open by rev'ing in neutral. There is not anough airflow through the primary side under no-load condition.
