Default 78 Spark Plugs

Why didn't anyone warn me. I spent 4 hours changing the plugs on my 78. What a nightmare. Is it just me.

It's not just you. However, the second time around, it wil take less than an hour. The back four are easy. The front four, well, let's say that patience is a virtue.

Wait until you try the spark plug wires if they are still routed in the original wireways.

Good luck,
Dino

the plugs i found easier to get from under the car but maybe that was just me

and i just did the wires the other day, i wanted them to run the factory route and it was a lot easier than i thought it would be.
the main tip i received from reading the archives here is remove the
boots for the plugs on those wires feed the wires through then reinstall the boots. took me less than 30 minutes to do both sides.

Interesting suggestion. Did you tape together the old wire and new wire to fish them through?

Thanks,
Dino

Remove the back 2 on each side from below. Others from above. Use a sparkplug socket with a short extension and a flex head ratchet. It gets easier after you figure out what combination of tools you need. On my 78' with headers, I have to use a spark plug socket with a 3/4 hex and use a box wrench on it because I can't get a ratchet in the space.

It looks like the front two wires on the passenger side would be the most difficult. They have to pass through the wireways, behind the starter and through the motor mount. I will give your suggestion a try. I have all but these two complete.

Thanks,
Dino

it seems it but once you start feeding them down without the boots
on it will go smooth, once you see them at the bottom pull some through to work with then start pushing back up the boomerang
and they will pop out the top.

also before feeding i marked the very end with the number so i knew
which wire was for which plug.
