1978 Silver Ann. L-82 4 speed with 67,558 miles all stock equipment. This past past year I tuned up the motor; cap, rotor, plugs, wires, new fuel / air filters. The motor starts easily when cold, however it will not idle (stalls out) until the motor warms up, it will occasionaly stall out when I come to a stop. The vacuum seems fine, the lights open and close as when the car was new. The motor runs runs smoothly at all RPM's except at idle when cold. Please advise; vacuum, carburator / choke, or ignition problems.
If it does run rich the choke pulloff could be bad or need adjustment. If it doesnt run rich and you can feather the gas then maybe you can just set the fast idle.

Sounds like a choke adjustment, choke pulloff adjustment, or fast idle adjustment issue. If you drop me an e-mail request, I can send you my choke setup procedure: V8FastCars@msn.com

Hello Lars,
Thank you for responding, you offered to e-mail me your choke set-up procedure. Also, before I start your procedure do you think I should install a new manifold heat spring assembly, the present one will be 29 years old in March?
Thank you,
Ted S-

The 1978 does not use a manifold heat spring. You should have an integral choke that works off hot air. Is this not what you have...? If you have a manifold heat spring, someone has done something funny to your car, and this may be your problem...
