Default New Wheels

I've been searching the archives for some help with wheels for my '79 Vette. I just love my original wheels and they're in great shape so I do plan to continue using them. But I also do several weekends of racing each summer. Drag racing that is. I'm in search of a nice functional wheel that I can use on the drag track. I do not want to use spacers and or adaptors. I do want something skinny on the front and wish to stay 8 inch on the rear.

The first wheel I like is the Weld Pro Star which I do know will not work without spacers and adaptors, which means thats out!

I've read in Corvette-forum that the Centerline Auto Drag (which wouldn't look bad on '79) and the Draglites are a direct bolt on but before I place my order I like some advice from someone more knowledgable than myself.

So whats the opinion, will the Draglites bolt on or do I order the AutoDrags and will they truely bolt right on!

Thanks so much!

Hey Indynut, I too am looking at different rims and I am looking at the Autodrags.Look up on Centerlines website. I donot care for the Autodrag III. These are a 3 piece rim and the extra ring in the rim I think takes away from the looks of a solid rim. The Autodrag is 2 piece and is also lighter. They do have a large assotment of sizes from 3.5" wide to 15" wide. I just like the full rim look better than the open rim look personally. Good Luck on your choice. BDCMPNY

Hey Indynut, First the picture is out of the ones that are here on this site. Go to the top and click on your private messages. Next go to the left side and you will see where is says control panel. Go down and click on edit avatar. this will bring up different pics as well as this one I have then you can follow directions to put it in for yourself. I had never done this till I did it here so it is pretty easy to do. Yeah they should be a direct bolt on I have old Western Wheels on mine and mesured off from there I called centerline direct and get them the measurements and they said it would fit with no problem. I am going with the 15x 8.5" rim on mine. I like the deeper looking rim and you get up to 9" you will start running into problems with clearance. My old rims are 8.5 so I figured I would stay wiht that. I also have the 4" backspacing. Hope this helps. BDCMPNY

I could say TTT but I'm really curious to see if anyone has been able to get the Weld Draglites on their Vette without spacers or adapters.

I believe that "norvalwilhelm" used to run them on his car but through his web-page here is the only picture I could find!

I just hope norval reads this and chimes in with another picture of the Weld Draglites!
