Default Rear Window Help

I have a 69 T-Top. Just discovered that these cars came with some sort of bracket or shelf in the cargo compartment for the rear window. Obviously mine is missing. Does anyone have a picture of what this bracket looks like installed?

Also I'd like to know what stickers go on which of the three compartment doors.

Thanks,

Rich

Default Rear Window Shelf

For 69 it was a pressboard shelf, which is hinged at the rear corners and has a spring clip and release handle at the front center. Spring clip and handle is available as a reproduction. The shelf is described in the AIM and has a clip that the top of the window frame slides into and two swing latches that secure the lower locating pins on the bottom of the window frame.

As far as I know the shelves are not available. You will have to find one used and they are getting hard to find. They also changed, in 1970 I think, to a shorter plastic shelf. That will not fit your 1969. I will post some pictures later.

As far as the stickers on the rear compartment doors, the AIM manual shows where they go but some are different than what is on my known origina car. But, here is my summary:
(looking at inside of door lids when lifted)
Jack door - upper-left: tire pressure sticker
lower-left: jacking instructions (AIM says upper-right)
lower-right: limited slip diff. caution label
Center door- lower-center: vehicle safety maint. sticker (AIM says sticker is centered on lid both directions)
Battery door: no stickers
I don't know what the NCRS folks say is "original", I only know how my (original) car is tagged.

Let me add that those pictures are from a Oct 3 1968 build date. This panel is pressboard and is rectangular. I have seen several, including the ones on ebay (listed as t-top trays) that are plastic and do not fit the same. The mounting brackets are narrower across the back. The AIM shows a tray revision on 2-10-69 from #3954528 to #3972537. I assume that was the change from pressboard to plastic. Check your build date before you buy something.

I have a "strike late" 1969. My car was built in November of 1969... I assume I need the plastic type. Is the pull handle the same for the pressboard and plastic type?

The spring clip and handle are the same. I purchased this part for a friend's 69 and I had to send the first one back because it was the plastic/fiberglass one. It didn't come close to fitting. From what I remember and can see by the shape is that the plastic tray's brackets are closer together. I do remember that there is a shorter tray also. I was told at the time that the later cars had larger fuel tanks and the cargo area wasn't as deep. I don't believe that because the t-tops would still have to fit back there and there is not a whole lot of additional room in my 69. I'll do some research on the NCRS board. I'm not certain that the change came midway in the 1969 production year.

Does you car still have the brackets on the rear of the cargo compartment? I could measure mine and see if they are the same. Did you see the ones on EBay? They are different than mine.

Yes I have the brackets in the back of my rear compartment... I don't know what they measure, but I'll find out.
I did see the ones on ebay... I actually have a bid on both of them, but I've already been outbid, and someone from the forum is selling me them now. The forum member is selling the plastic type and says it is correct for a late 69... Personally I dont care if the plastic type is correct for a 60 or not, just as long as it fits properly. It will be interesting to find this out. I'll get back with my measurement soon.

NCRS says they were all pressboard for 69. As I recall those plastic/fiberglass one have a mounting bracket pattern about 4" narrower than the 69 fiberboard. Measure before you put down your money or establish a return policy if they don't fit.
