yours should work just fine, that's almost identical to how the factory did it in 82.

Thats very reassuring. I had seen a pic of an '82 sender on e-bay some time ago, and I was just going by memory.
So hows you project coming along?? Do you have any updates??

Dr Jay nice timing, I will be installing a MAF TPI with the 165 computer in my 77 next month. What will you do for fresh/filtered air forward of the MAF? I believe the MAF uses a 2 pulse VSS.

I've seen the oblong cone filter squeezed in before...it seems to work well on cars with electric fans.

To be honest I'm not sure what to do about fresh air yet. I thought I might make a custom air intake that fits between the hood, and radiator support, and have the filter mounted in front of the radiator kind of like the C-5 type of intake. I also noticed today that the MAF sensor has two bolt holes to be used for attachment to a support bracket. It'll take some fab work, but I'll think of something.
I promise to post pics.
The speed sensor is a minor problem, but I think I have the wiring figured out. I'm waiting for any other forum members with experiance to chime in on it. Otherwise I,m going to ground one wire, and the other wire I will attach to brown wire at pin-out A10.
Do you have any suggestions, tips, hints? Any thing is useful.
I'm doing this as a "If I put my mind to it I can do anything project"

I can advise that if using older heads with the TPI when you elongate the 4 center bolt holes a die grinder with a 1/4" drill bit works great to mill the aluminum. Take a little off at a time, and test fit the intake for alignment frequently.

Do you have a custom prom yet? I used these guys, they were very helpful on the phone with my questions.

Default about your VSS wiring...

take a look at this website....
it has a simplified wiring diagram of what I believe you're looking for (down towards the bottom).

I see a lot of the sensors are alike...but does any of that info from that link pertain to an LT1 EFI system?

Nice install!

You can buy a spark plug anti-fouler and cut it short to make an inexpensive O2 bung. F-body accel cable should work, but it's a little long. That's what I used in my truck. In the Vette, I used a 91 C4 cable. The inner cable was too long and I had to use a hood cable stop to get the correct pull. In another TPI swap in a 71 pickup, I used an 88 TBI pickup cable and it was a nice length.

I picked up a 18mm non-fouler to use as a bung last night. I'll try the F-body throttle cable I can deal with it being al little long. Thanks for the advice. Any thing else you can recomend is appreciated.

I actually have it saved to favorites in a folder labled TPI conversions. It was very helpful in me making the decision to do the conversion.

Durango, the only part that I don't have yet is the air cleaner element.
I now just need some more free time (rain day at work). I got the fuel lines to the rail, and filter plumbed last night (sorry battery was dead in the camera). This evening I plan on starting to install the wire harness.
If everything goes really well I hope to have it running on new years day. I'm crossing my fingers.

I was fooling around with the fresh air intake last year on my old 350, that was prior to installing the new 383, I went to the wrecking yard and got several different rubber elbow's from various cars, I even bought a stock C5 assembly off Ebay, seemed like everything that I got to work looked "REAL" bubba, this was because I only had 3 inches play with from the MAF to my radiator, I wanted to do better than this. What I wanted was fresh cool air forward of the radiator but I don't want to cut up my radiator support to make room for ducting, I also was trying to hook it up to a stock type filter housing, that was so I could run to any parts store to change my filter, I gave it a break and figured I'd get back to it this year.
Well I'm back looking at it and I've also talked to a few competent friends. What I am planning to do is build and attach a U shaped shield to my front frame crossover, this is to house a standard aftermarket round/cone type filter and hopefully keep alot of turbulence down, I know I'll be getting warm/hot air from the engine compartment but I'll take that trade, I will just have to plumb a 90 deg down from the MAF and then to the box.
I am also very open to ideas
