Default installing crate motor

I'm planning on installing a gm 350 330hp crate in my 69 coupe. Will it go in easily with headers installed?

You put the engine in first, then install the headers from the bottom.

I tried to install my crate with full length headers on, NO GO. Had to take them off and install them after I had the motor in place.

Even if they fit, there is the possibility of dinging them on various things like the steering box, engine mounts or frame...

And a third opinion...

Before dropping the engine, I placed the headers inside the engine compartment approximately where they would go when the engine was in. Then to keep them out of the way when dropping the engine, I used masking tape to hold them roughly in place and also out of the way. I looped the tape over the headers and over the fenders. That way, when the engine was in, the headers were pretty much in the right place and just needed to be bolted in. (ZZ4 and Hedman sidepipe headers).

I put my ZZ4 in first and fed headers from the bottom afterwards.

Dip stick had to come off for headers to fit on pass side and starter wasnt a problem.

On driver side there isnt as much room w/ the steering box but they will go in no problem.

Cheers,

Crunch

No, it won't go in easily, but it is possible if everything else is out of your engine compartment. The steering box and brake system will get in the way. Some depends on your engine hoist too. The nose on my '80 is too long for an everyday hoist. I had to drop my engine in from an angle, so I didn't have the precise control you have from straight on from the front. I am so glad I hadn't put my headers on yet.

BTW, you're going to like the 350 HO crate. That's what I have in my '80.

This method has worked for me.
