I have a 2.88 low ST-10 and 3.00 gears in my 67 Nova. It's not as bad as you would think if you build a mild (cam) motor. Are you sure that the input and main shaft isn't a Ford and not a GM. The H trans is listed as a Ford replacement but I have not looked at one so I don't know.

It's a 6 5/8" input, which I believe is Chevy standard (it's the same as the NV4500 I have in the garage). The main case is drilled for both Ford and Muncie patterns. I know that the T5 kits for the old Mustangs have a spacer plate included, so it must have been later than the mid-60s when they went to the longer input.

Where'd you find information on the "H"?
Since you may be using that trans...will you consider selling the NV4500?
I say install the manual to get the car ready for the T5 swap, and just drive it as is until you can afford the T5 or even a TKO.
I'm stuck with the same situation. I'm gonna end up putting in a $40 Saginaw 3-speed out of a junkyard just to get the car set up for the future. TH350 is unacceptable.
