Default B/B FI questions

I have a fresh zz454 in my '71 and was considering a FI setup instead of my 850cfm Holley.

First question is what will fit under my L88 hood?? I would LOVE to stuff a RamJet under there, but I don't know if it will fit. (I would like to leave the hood un-modified.)

What other options are out there, and what is the best bang for the buck?? (and I want BANG!!! )

What kind of HP gains should I get from the swap, to go along with increased driveabilty??

It can be made to fit. I had to cut the intake about 1/2":

Chuck, You will definitly be glad you opted for FI As to "Will it fit under my L88 hood?" Does your hood have the induction air chamber assembly bonded in under the hood? If not, almost any of the FI systems will fit, with the exception of the RamJet. I had to raise my L-88 hood ~1.5" to accomodate the RamJet. If you do have an induction air chamber, you are probably looking at somthing like Zwede showed you. I have the same Holley Commander setup in my 69 vert. L-88 hood air chamber clearance varies a little depending on what hood you have....aftermarket (i.e. Eckler) or original GM. I have an original GM on my 69 and didn't have as big a clearace issue as Zwede discribed with his. It still needed some work there to fit though.

The intake manifold system Zwede has is a Holley manifold. Zwede bought the whole system, including computer, from Holley I believe. I purchased just the manifold and associated fuel rails from Jeg's for about $580. The manifold is a single plane meant for fuel injection. It has the injector bosses, bosses for mounting the fuel rails, and provisions for the temp sensors. That is what I used for my Megasquirt setup. I milled the manifold down as Zwede suggested, but I don't have a hood yet.

As far as I'm concerned, the "bang" you get from a FI system is directly related to how well you can tune, or how well the person you have tune it does. Getting enough fuel is as simple as getting the right size injectors.

you will also have to upgrade your fuel lines to the tank. run a new line for supply and use the existing for the return.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I didn't get back here sooner. I actually had to work today!!

My L-88 hood has no fresh air chamber bonded under it. Do you have any pics of your hood with the 1 1/2" lift added?? I really like the RamJet setup, but if I don't go with that...what brand/model should I be looking at?? Who carries the best prices and which one tunes the best??

Spring is coming and I am already looking to spend what Uncle Sam is is giving me back!!!
