I'm redoing my rear strut rods with poly bushings. Do I still use the bushing caps that were on the factory install. I'm inclined to think yes but can't find any instructions on it. Thanks

The bushing sleeve that comes with the poly has the same bore as the adjustment bolt. The stock bushing caps should not be used.
Call Van Steel and they will tell you. They redid mine and I installed them using the caps. I don't remember thinking anything about it at the time. That was several years ago and I just looked at them and they appear to be fine.
Concensious was to use them so i put 1 together last night it became obvious that they were needed. Without the caps there would be to much side play. With the caps on everything fits in nice and snug ready for torquing. I removed the housing from the differential and am putting the strut rods together in it with a vice in the basement . Thanks to all for the help.
The bushing are the same for either end of the strut rod. The caps have to be used since the eccentric bolt is smaller diameter than the lower shock mount. Also the strut bracket is wider than the bearing support. The caps take up the extra wdith. No instructions needed. Just put the caps over the bushing and slide it up into the strut bracket under the differential and push the eccentric thru.

Got everything together ready to go back in the car. Got a little cleaning to do to get rid of the lithium. I greased the polies with the ploy grease, the lithium was to slide the assembly in. Thanks to all for help.
Finally got the struts put back on the vette today. What a fight to get the polies to fit into the outer stirrups! Had to use lithium grease and slowly work them in as they wanted to bind on the edge of the stirrup. All in all not a bad job to do, now for a Moosehead to cure the backache.
