Default 4" Stroke

Has anyone out there clearanced a SBC 350 for a 4 in stroke? With a 4" stroke and bore this would seem to be a real torque machine.

I have not clearanced or even had one but I am getting a custom built crate motor from T&L engines. It has a 4" stroke. Its 408", dart heads and a hyd roller and it makes 520lbs tq. Its like 400lbs at 2500 rpms.

Yea. I have seen the crate motor add. I think you could build a real thumper with that stroke. I just got a free block, and am going to try doing the clearance myself. Just wondering if anyone else has tried it.

I was running some numbers on DD2000 last night. With a set of afr heads and solid roller in the range of 240/245 .570 it was pushing 550 hp @ 6000 with peak torque coming at 4500.

I know you have done a few 396s, but it would sure be nice to talk with someone who has built the 408.

G

I have a set of srp forged pistons with less than 50 miles on them. So I will try to piece together the bottom end. This project is going to take a while, by parts as I can afford and the machine work. I've found a scat forged crank for 459.00, but I'm still in the planning stage.

I've bought 5-6 stroker rotating kits from Flat Lander racing and one set of heads. They have always been good to me.

another company I used for my first complete 383 was Martel Brothers.

The better machine shops have a fixture for clearancing blocks.

Default 4X4`s with 265`s

Nothing new, 4X4 Small block chevies have been around since shortly after the 265 V8 came out. Which is nearly 50 years of actual 4X4`s usage. They had to figure out what rod to use. 283`s were only slightly better to use

Default 4x4 makes a "square" motor.

I recall an eng with the same stroke as bore has the widest/broadest pwr band. Man this is great idea, but how do you clearance the block? Anyone got good links for this?

And the price is right now too - not hardly and more $$ than a stock stroke. SCAT cranks use the 6" rods too - man the ring pack gott'a be tight.
