Right after returning from Carlisle my vette began missing so I decided to check the plugs and # 1 was fouled bad! Very black and full of gunk! I replace all the plugs and most looked normal. I just pulled #1 again and it was almost completly fouled again with less than a hundred miles. My question is this. Should I just check valve guides/seals on that one and keep my fingers crossed or should I bite the bullet and take the heads off and do a complete valve job just in case? Or is this the opportunity to upgrade. The heads only have a few thousand miles on them. (SR Torquers)
If you end up taking heads off, let me know. I would like to help for the learning experience. I plan on getting AFRs (180s or 190s) and putting them on this winter. I have never done the job before and love learning on someone elses dime.
Plug wires are OK. I havent run a compression check or re-torqued anything yet either. This just happened so I'm planning on a winter project with this. And a few other things of course. Thanks for the tips.
Steve, your on.
