Default Points vs. Electronic?

My car will be here next week. One of the first things I THINK I'd like to do is convert from the point system to electronic.

I have the 48 350 and Im just trying to send out here for some advise. I have saw some info on the swap out and Im waiting to hear from those guys.

Is it worth the cost and effort to change out? Any help?

If properly wetup and all systems working good there is no performance gain on a basically stock motor. If you want to get rid ofthe points and be a little more modern the HEI is tough to beat. There is a groupl purchase going on right now for one that seems like a pretty good deal. This just eliminates the setting of the points. Either way if properly working they are a good setup. The effort is minimal to swap out the distributor. Just will lighten your wallet a few $$$

I have seen a huge range of problems with the electronic conversions, and I remove them and install points in every car I work on. I have done actual back-to-back dyno testing on points versus the electronic conversions, and there is no difference at all in power output. If you want a performance difference, you can add an MSD6AL to the stock points setup and your points will last almost forever. Just run a good set of points, such as the NAPA CS786 with an RR175 condensor. I'd keep the points if I were you...
