Default Painting the windshield frame

I know we've been through this already but I can't remember what is the best paint for covering the bare metal windshield frame and front metal firewall?I was going to use POR and I can remember somebody giving reasons not too. Thanks.

Based on my research, the bomb proof approach is to first apply an etching primer and then top coat that with an epoxy primer. However, just using an epoxy primer is acceptable.

I scuffed my windshield frame to bare metal with an 80 grit disc pad attached to a die grinder. Then I brushed on a coat of epoxy primer. I didn't have any etching primer handy so I skipped that step.

From what I've read, POR15 isn't the best product to use on the windshield frame because the cured finish is very slick. Butyl tape and or urethane caulk do not adhere well to a slick finish.

POR-15 likes rusted surfaces best. Seasoned metal and sandblasted metal are also good. POR-15 does not adhere well to smooth, shiny surfaces, but will adhere well to those surfaces with the proper preparation.

My windshield frame is mint AND shiny, adhering to it might be an issue. So JUST epoxy primer or etching primer is good enough or does it need some sort of top coat?

I just finished installing a new windshield. There was some rust on the windshield frame corners. I used Eastwood's Rust Converter and then Encapsulator. Seemed to work well.

Seems I recall reading something about NOT using etching primer as the only substrate. I think the etching primer needs to be top-coated. You might want to do some quick research to confirm this.
