I am still learning the ropes on my vette and after having AlKnoch do the new top I want to make the windows fit more tightly. The power windows work perfectly but when they are rolled up they are a bit too "vertical". I need the top edge of them tipped in more twoards the convert top to get it to seal better. Before I go through the trouble of taking off the door panel, is there an adjustment to how the glass sits in the door such that I can adjust the vertical angle inwards to get it to seal up better?
Yes, there is a 3 page adjustment procedure in the AIM. I believe it's in the Shop manual as well. There are adjustments for tilting the window "every which way but loose".
If you don't have it, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send them to you.
Don't want to hijack the thread.. Just noticed that you live in Miami Beach.. I used to have a condo and lived on Collins (6039 Collins Ave.) from '99 - '03.
Based on your ZIP code, I assume that you are somewhere near 71st street - right? My favorite italian restaurant is in that street... Prima Pasta...
Thanks guys for the tips...I will break out my AIM to see what it says. I guess I shoud have looked there first.
Hey Oliver....yes, I live at 6770 Indian Creek Drive which is basically as you know 67th & Collins. I have enjoyed Prima Pasta many times. If you are ever here in S. Florida look me up. I wanted to meet you at the Vette vs. Stang shoot out in December as I was driving back from Auburndale after picking up my vette freshly updated from Chris who said to say "hi" by the way.

I should be at Moroso again for the next Vette - Viper shootout!!
You are only 7 blocks from where I used to live
Lots of new construction going on... If I would've kept my condo, I could get $600k for it right now.. Sold it in '03 for less than $300k
Say Hi to all that know me down there..
At the last Vette - Viper shootout I left early to to excessive swaying.. Still ran a 10.40 all engine...

okay....I still need more help here guys. I spent a solid 2+ hours trying to get the window adjusted. I think I figured everything out except for 1 part. The window tilt (outwards/inwards) seems to be busted. What I am trying to say is that the window wiggles/moves very easily to the outside edge in any position. My passenger window is pretty stiff when either rolled up or down but the divers side will naturally rest inwards towards the car but can easily be moved outwards with a little pressure when rolled up and also when it is rolled down it rattles a little back and forth even though I have the anit-rattle bumper stops installed. The passenger side is perfect, but I for the life of me can't get the drivers side to close tightly and 99% of it is due to the loose window tilting outwards. I looked at everything and it seems as if the mechanism itself is somehow defective compared to the passenger side since I can definitely move the top edge of the window almost 1/2" outwards when rolled up vs. the passenger side only move 1/8". What gives and what am I missing on the drivers side? I moved all the adjustments inwards, but the way the window sits in the channels itelf allows movement and I can see the channel bending/moving so I don't think it is something directly related to how the windown sits in the holding slot, but the mechanism itself needed adjustment.
Im having the same problem on my 78 torch red vette. I cant get the window tilted right after installing new weatherstripping. Can i get you to email me the 3 page setup.....thanks...flashpi@yahoo.com

I hate to rain on your parade but the top frame should have been adjusted with new seals in place to match the windows before the top is installed. At this point you may not be able to get the windows to fit. It takes time to fit the frame so at a show they may not check the fit but just install tops.
I just went through this on my 81. Turns out the the guide buhing, which runs in the channel towards the front of the door, was defective and loose. It was a fair job to replace it, but the window is nice and tight now. More to your point, I can now adjust the in/out position meaningfully. Prior to changing the bushing and related parts, I could adjust all that I wanted and it didn't change anything.
I have the Red Corvette manual and I tried to get the glass to land in the groove but I am having to settle for a lot of side movement . And it travels too high It seems to be adjustable but I think there is a trick to it . Im thinking about measuring everything on the side that works fine (passenger) and apply those measurements to the drivers side . After I think I have it just right I button it all up and it turns to crap again. I am about ready to take it to a body shop and have it done professionally. Maybe
Hi, does anyone have pictures of where to adjust the window tilt? Mine are manual crank and the window on the drive side is too much tilting in and I need to have it tilt out alittle.
I am waiting for a boring day to tackle this problem again. I think I need to remove the entire window assembly and fix/tighten the channel/groove that the window sits/attaches to so that it does not wiggle so much. I have a feeling it is loose somewhere inside the door. Ugghh!!! Should be a fun task.
