Default 71 inspection

First post in the C-3 section, usually hang out in the C-2 section. I sold my 65 convertible a few months ago and am looking for another car. I am going to look at a 71 LT-1 Friday and was wondering what to look for. I am very familiar with mid-years but know nothing about C-3's. Are the numbers on the engine, trans and rear end in the same place? Is there a vin tag and trim tag by the passenger side knees? Is there anything special to look for on the car since it is a LT-1? I really want another mid-year but this car sounds like a very good deal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Look for the magnetic pulse transistorized ignition system (standard on LT-1 for '71). Also look for the heavy duty U joint caps on half shafts. Look for a SINGLE metal fuel line ONLY running from tank to front frame rail on passenger side.

No trim plate in passenger side well area, only on front post of drivers side. Only contains build date, interior color code & exterior color code.

Get Dobbins 1968 to 1972 Stingray Fact Book, lots of pictures to compare with.
