You need to keep up Binnie77. For 1.00 USA Buck you get 1.18 CAN. Yep your Canadian Buck is worth more than the USA buck right now.

Ummm, yes it would be quick. Just where do you intend on putting the turbo's and the huge inter-cooler?

if it takes more than 1 canadian dollar to buy a US dollar, than the US dollar is worth more...and $1CAN-$.85US is the same as $1.18CAN-$1US, just a matter of which side you're starting on.

If he burns McDonalds cooking oil following him down the road would make it hard not to stop at the next McDonalds and get some fries.

There are diesels smaller than a 6.5 like he used. If people can fit a turboed big block in a C3 then a smaller diesel with turbos can obviously be fitted. And yes it would be expensive but Audi didn't care because it gave them a mileage advantage, they got more laps between pit stops, and Gale just wanted a record with a diesel. No its it not practical for the average person, or race team for that matter, but they're not average.
That said, I didn't make the comment to imply me or anyone else should do this with a Vette (although I have no objections if someone wanted to try), I only wanted say that diesels can book and aren't just for trucks and smelly Mercedes anymore.

He says he's getting 48-55mpg - that's pretty good.

There is a place in michigan, penninsular deisel, that builds 6.5 motors for boats and with unlimited cold lake water they say they can run them up to 400 hp, not sure what the torque is.
