The Husky compressor is great
Did the same thing.....very satisfied. It is actually quiet and runs everything I need in a home garage setup. Just be sure you can add another set of breakers to your breaker box. I hardwired mine.

I use my dryer wall outlet for the compressor
works fine - I bought another dryer cable so now I have to unplug the dryer first.... that makes absolutely SURE that nobody uses the dryer when the compressor runs
Well, I have read that this size will work but MIGHT be slightly small for a painting job. That said, I painted my 66 about six years ago with a 25 year old 3.5 hp, 30 gallon Craftsman compressor. Old, noisy, and ran all the time during the big areas. Had to let it catch up at times. I sprayed original lacquer, both color and clear. When it was done I had more compliments than the guys with the professional jobs.
If my really old Craftsman will do it, this one should be adequate.

Well I will be using a high volume low pressure paint gun when the time comes. Anyone else have any thoughts on whether or not the compressor will be able to pull off a nice paint job...or will I have to go bigger?

This one previously referred to is much better for your needs and a much better unit.

yeah...but i get a discount at home depot. My friend works there...I also have a $100 give certificate and 20% off. So, that $240 with the 20% discount and gift certificate, plus the discount my friend is going to get me. So I'll only have to pay for half of it in reality...

that and a sand blast cabinet will be your challenge.....that may not be enough cfm for a HVLP system.....pick out your gun and see what the cfm is that it needs
