Engine Operating Temp

I have a sbc 350 that runs constantly at 175 degrees. What is the normal temp range for this engine? I s 175 degrees too cool?

How are you measuring the temp? Maybe the guage is slightly off. I normally see temps from 180* to 200* depending on outside temps, how I'm driving, use of A/C, etc.

What thermostat are you running? This temp rating generally dictates the minimum temp the engine would operate at.

I believe your engine came with a 180 degree thermostat. Either your gage or the thermostat (or both) are a few degrees off.....incidental. Your temp is just what GM wanted in '69.
