I heard really short springs flopped around if you hit a bump. The road races don't have a problem so I should be fine with that. There 8.5" tall btw That should make it have a 24" ride height. I may have to look for taller springs because that may be too low.
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
Why are you buying springs that stiff ? I hope you don't have any loose fillings because the jarring from going over small cracks in the road gets old real fast

Best to make sure the seat has lots of padding to cushion the old hemorrhoids.
1000 lb. coil springs and a 600 lb. rear leaf spring?
Go with composite leaf springs front and back and put a dual mount in the back and be done with it. Quit wasting your time with 60s suspension technology. Either go composite leaf springs or coil overs, if you're going to spend that much effort on it.
I'm a big fan of big springs and soft shocks for autocrossing. I think your springs may be a little on the short side though. A good driver with big springs will do well on race day.
The super stiff setup has been proven in the past and was a successful setup for a former BSP multi-time national champ autocrosser. The limitations of the rules did not allow for geometry correction so the theory was in order to maintain the suspension geometry, you make it as stiff as possible so it doesn't move. I have seen that car run in person, and the only faster car that day was the same guy in his National Champ Z06. Danny Popp knows his stuff.
Go to Guldstrand, don't bother with circle track stuff. Although I don't think Daytona springs (860 lb/in) were much taller than 8.5". Curious to know how he came with 24" ride height. They're not going to compress like a lower rate spring would.
Jim Harrison uses Daytona coils, maybe he'll chime in and tell us how tall those are uncompressed and where his ride hieght is at. Danny's car with 1200lb/in springs sat at probably about 26.5" or so with 317/35-17's on the front.
I plan on trying at least Daytona's at some point, my car does not see the street.
I believe I have a set of monster front springs off the Flying Tigers Corvette racer...want to buy them?? I also know where there is a like new 420# fiberglass rear leaf if anyone is interested. redvetracr@yahoo.com
Those guys got picked on when they were younger so there (trying) to take it out now.
They're just giving you opinions based on their frame of reference. Of course 1000# springs are no good for show n' shines.
Remember there are only a hand full of road course guys here. Howard is the only real road racer here. The rest of us are just weekend jagoffs for the most part.
