I was driving my car earlier tlhis week, before I took it all apart. And I was thinking to myself that installing the Pro 5.0 Shifter on the T56 was one of the best simple mods that I've done. I also made my own stick, very very short. If you have a T56, buy this shifter. Don't try to save a few bucks on a cheap one either.
Fellas -- never heard of this shifter? Looks cool. Couple questions:
1. I found a pro 5.o TKO500/600 shifter kit at Jegs for $482.00 , but then I found same thing (I think) on ebay and various other retailers for about $180.00. Is this the same thing?
2. Does this shifter just bolt-on? Looks like it would be that simple but not sure?
3. Dont really want to pull the trans again; so could I maybe lower the trans a bit and install this shifter w/o removing the trans? BTW, my crossmember is a bolt-in style(I swapped out a TH400 for the TKO600).
You can find one for under $200. I did. I dropped mine in from inside the car, no need to mess with the trans. Just remove the console. Console mods were required for my car though...
$150 new is what i paid for mine some 4 years ago...it is a direct bolt on replacing the OEM shifter...at worst all you would have to do is lower the tail end of the tranny a little bit and install from the shifter hole.
