Default Need help from Lars

I need a Q-jet for my 80, I found one that came off a 76. The problem is it has the old choke set up fron the manifold, and I need the electric choke. I was told that I can remove my el. choke and install it on the 76 carb. the # on the 76 is 17056207 Can you tell me if it can be done and if the 76 carb will be ok for my car. It is a 80 350 with hedders, I got it used so I am not sure if it is stock. It does seam to be stock. With your knowledge of Q jets you are the only one that may have the answer.

Your advice will be a great help to me thanks

Joe.

I spoke with Lars recently about something very similar to this recently. He informed me that the electric choke is a direct swap.

For more information on the differences between the two carbs you can look at the chart in Lars QJet paper.

AK. Mal; Thank you for that information it was very helpfull. I looked up the two carb # and they have different jet and other part #. I don't know if it will be a problem, my ( limited ) knowledge of Q Jet carbs. The car that it came off was a 350 with 8 1/2 to 1 comp. That is close to what I have.

You can install the 1980 electric choke in any integral choke carb as long as you delete the choke cover gasket.

Im running chokeless on my 79. no problems starting.
I still need to set the ignition timing and a few other adjustments before I make a final decision on the choke.
