Small Block Intake
I would like to add an aluminum intake to my 350/300 hp but keep it stock appearing. Did GM offer an aluminum intake on the 350/350 or even in 1970? I want to get rid of some of the orange in here...

Why not just have your intake powdercoated aluminum or chrome. You won't have to change anything over and it will all be stock except for the "color". Your not trying to upgrade power are you?

Yes I would like to upgrade power. I will probably do some cleaning up in the runners on the aluminum intake. The stock intake will be put on the shelf just in case...

The 350/300 and the 350/350 both used a cast iron intake. The 70-72 LT1 intakes were aluminum but they also were a higher intake therefore needed the different hood. The Performer and Performer RPM are good aluminum intakes but Idon't know if the RPM will fit under the stock hood with the stock air cleaner.

You can either have stock appearing or orange, but not both. The only way to make it stock appearing is leave it orange. If you don't want it orange, there are lots of aftermarket manifolds with similar hook-ups.

For a stock appearance I'd leave it alone, but if you really want an aluminum intake an Edelbrock Performer can be picked up for a shade over $100 at most parts stores

I'm going with the Weiand 8004 which also fits both the hood and Q-Jet and at least on paper, appears to be a better performer. This is going on Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads.

I just added an edelbrock performer EPS intake #2701 and an edelbrock performer 600 cfm carb to my 78 L82, and man what a diffrence in performance, better throtle response, better ET's, and it fits under stock hood, and no the factory carb and intake are not for sale.

Performer 2101, Action+, & late 70s aluminum intake all fit under the low rise 68-72 hood & reduce weight.
PS alanbl, 7104 is the Q-J RPM & not a good fit for 68-72 low rise standard hood & Edelbrock states it will not fit.
