Default 1977 door problem

my son's 77 vette door just messed up today,it doesn't open from the inside, it opens good form the outside, my ? is would it be the lock mechanism on the door striker or the one on the pull handle on the inside door panel?

Sounds like the rod broke, bent or dislodged. Take the door panel off and you will see a rod running diagnal from the inside handle up to the lock mechanism. The end is adjustable if it is not broken.

Good Luck

glad you got it fixed...was going to add that there is a screw on the outside of the door just below (or above...can't remember)where the latch is, which holds the mechanism in place. If that screw comes lose the whole mechanism will move when the handle is pulled and the door won't open. However...if cleaning was all you need, congrats!!!
