Default Electric water pump and heater

I'm determined to make my CSI electric water pump work on the street while still retaining a working heater. The problem I have now, is that there's only one port on the pump which of course sucks on the lower radiator hose. I've tried searching the archives here and someone had suggested taking the pump to a machine shop and having them machine a threaded port in the pump to accept a hose fitting. But the original poster never responded on what he did. Anybody know if that would work, if they've done it, seen it done, or have any other recommendations? For now I may just bypass the heater core until I get this figured out but I'm not sure what to do with the extra hose coming off the overflow tank.
Thanks.

Ummm, I would have to go look, but my mechanical pump has one port, it goes on a heater hose anf the other side of the heater goes to the manifold port

About all I know is that they were never intended for street use, hence no need for the heater port.

A friend of mine made it work.
He made a T fitting and cut the hose from the Radiator to the pump and place the T there. The hose from the Heatercore was fitted to the smaller port on the T and it works great

If it is made to mount on the block, the "IN" and "OUT" are the passage from the engine block and the fitting on the pump. You shouldn't need another fitting.

In the past electric water pumps were deemed not useful on the street because they didn't have a long lifespan. The modern pumps have improved quite a bit and I've seen many guys that are running them on the street. I like the idea of an electric pump because you are getting full flow at all engine speeds. Plus, you can wire in a switch to allow you to continue to run the pump with the engine off to help continue to cool the motor down after a pass or down here in the HOT Houston sun. I probably should just block off the heater cause I rarely use it but I'd like to keep it if I can.

That's the right way. The pump suction is the lower rad hose connection. The block/mount ports are the pressure ports.

How did he shutt off heater flow in hot weather?
