What radiator manufacture should I consider for my '72 small block?
Thanks.
69-72 small blocks had two different radiators, depending on what options the car came with. If you have Air, Auto, and/or any RPO like LT1 or L46, then you would have this one
If you have none of these options then you might have this one
Note the above radiator does not have a filler neck, so it uses the separate surge tank.
You didn't really say you were looking for an "aluminum" or just a C/B replacement. Since you are local, you could come over and look at them.
I wouldn't even consider another brand. Dewitts. He specializes in making these things for our cars and he's on the forum here to talk to if there's a problem (and you can call and talk to HIM of course). These radiators come boxed in mint condition, not a bent fin (until you install it ).
I already run one behind my '78 with a 406ci and in the near future my father will be purchasing one for his 1980. Mechanical fan seems to be plenty to cool 406 cubic inches, but this will be the first summer I'll be able to drive the car since owning it for 2 years.
Northern or DeWitts. Search is your friend - the pros of cons of all will be revealed.
Batman is Correct. There are a few options that you can find with a search here on the forum. But for the most simple way to go is with the DeWitt as it is a drop in procedure. He has a fine product that most here will even admit to as well as good customer service.
Then there are some that put in a Northern radiator which takes some fabrication to do but is a cheaper rout to go.
I recommend Dewitts. Had a problem w/ delays getting my rad. core support, and Tom was on the forum explaining problem and got things worked out. Great customer service! I have both Dewitts radiator (aluminum) and core support.
Dewitts are OEM style with looks and quality. However Be-Cool has 'complete' polished cooling ststems worthy of a "Show Car" right out of the box. Fantistic looking parts and all you need to do is bolt them on.
I had a stock type replacement in my 72 SB when I first got it and the first thing I did was get rid of that. I got a BB alum radiator from Paragon. It cost a bit more but it bolted right in with NO problems at all. I was also running 40+ degrees cooler in the heat of the day than I had been running that same morning when it was much cooler. It cost a bit more as I had to get a new support too but it's great. If you're not concerned about it being original I'd get the biggest thing that'll fit in there.

Yes the BB radiator is a little bigger but IMO it's not worth converting everything to get one in there. Lets say you have the 26" model and the original is copper. Converting to the exact same size aluminum radiator is a 30% increase in cooling. That's a lot. Converting from 26" to 27.5" only nets out 5% more. As you mentioned, you'll have to change the core support to make that work and the BB radiator does not have a filler neck, so you'll have to get a surge tank.

Any help with finding a radiator for my 68 sb w/ AC?
Thanks
Email Tom, tom@dewitts.com, and he will set you up with just about the best aluminum radiator you can get. I just bought one and can't wait to get it installed.
