okay heres a question i have a 77 with the stingray badge on the side. could it have been a early model 77 and still get the badge or did someone else put it on? is there any way to tell?
I don't think I have read anywhere that '77s ever had Stingray badges. I have read three different styles of "badging" for the '77 (listed in order from early to late model):
1. No badges at all
2. Cross-flag badges with the alarm key on the driver's side.
3. Cross-flag badges only (alarm moved to the driver's door w/lock).
Having said that, I believe there are quite a few things that, unfortunately, are NOT documented in Corvette history (For example, I have never read anything about '77s having an Orange block, but in last month's Corvette Fever, it's stated that someone involved in production remembers early '77s coming off the line with Orange blocks).
Now, I haven't heard too much about when/why/what engine designation badges were placed on the hood. I'm pretty sure my car had L48 badges at one point because I can see a ripple in the rear part of the hood bump where holes may have been patched.
I guess we just need to remember the old saying: "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"
doesn't suprise me. i dont think there is anything original on this car, it started as a silver car, with 350. now its black with a 454. oh well all's I have to say is wheeeeee..... :D  :D
