my 82 feels like it falls on its face off the line. It boggs down like a car with a carb that needs rebuilt. As soon as it gets off the bottom end it pulls hard and strong. The engine light is on and it idles rough sometimes wanting to die. i recently added sea foam to this tank of gas. Could this make the car run like this??
Lars should be able to give you expert advise her. Being a dum **** myself, first thing to verify is that you're timing is correct and vac advance is working properly. If this checks out then a carb related bog could result from several things. I'd check the following:
1) Too large carb? What carb and size are your running?
2) Secondaries coming in too soon? Have you made any adjustments lately?
3) Primary jets too small? Have you changed these or made any adjustments lately?

82 is a Crossfire injected car with dual throttle bodies. After 1980, Vettes do not have vacuum advance, since all timing functions are controlled by the ECM. 1981 has an ECM-controlled Q-Jet and an ECM-controlled HEI with no vacuum advance, and 1982 has the same HEI with ECM-controlled dual throttle body injection.
On that Crossfire setup, check a couple of things:
First, set the base timing. Remember that you have to disconnect the ECM wire from the distributor to set it.
Next, install a new fuel filter and check the fuel pressure at the pressure regulator. You can actually use an air conditionig gauge set to check the pressure.
Finally, set your TPS to spec. Spec at the idle position should be .54 volts. I faulty TPS or a faulty adjustment will cause a bog upon throttle opening.
I ran the code and it came up a 42. Whatever is wrong, 2 days ago i went out and it spun the tires and the check engine light went off.The next day I went out and started it and within a minute it started running rough and the check engine light came back on!! Now it won't even turn the tires over. How could it go away and then come back???
