Just learning about brakes, because its the next job on my to do list. Anyway question is: Should there be a air blowing noise near the brake pedal when you pump the brakes? It was like a blow every time I pressed the pedal. Sounded like it was in the cabin, near my feet.
Just a question, I'm new to this whole mechanic/vette thing. THanks
That's the vacuum booster loading up. That can be normal, but only to a certain extent. If it's very bad you may have a leak.
Here's how to test your booster.
Engine off:
Pump pedal until it gets hard and won't go down any more. That's normal.
Then start engine, and if the pedal gets soft and goes down towards the floor, but not all the way...then you're okay.
If it never gets hard and stays mushy you have a leak. If it's hard all the time, and there is no difference from when the engine is on or off...you may have a problem.
That problem may be a bad check valve, or a bad booster. Several things can contribute, and a leak in the vacuum system will cause a lot of issues.
Do your headlights go up okay and at the same time?
They go up ok but the passenger side is a little slow, I can move both with just my fingers, I couldn't before. Thanks for the info about the brakes I will try that tonight.

I would suggest testing your vacuum system. You can use a vac gun that's easily and cheaply available from Autozone.
