I own a 1975 auto corvette and I would like to fit a new 5 speed manual transmission in it. What can you tell me about the converion kits in te market and the work to fit them?
If you are referring to the TKO from Keisler, your decision should be based on the rear end ratio that you are running and the torque that your engine is putting out. If you have the original engine and transmission in your car, then your differential has 3:08 gears. Keisler will recommend the TKO - 500 for your setup. If you have modified your drive train or plan to in the future (ie) going to say 3:56 gears or higher then you need to consider the TKO-600. There is only a couple hundred bucks difference in the two. The TKO - 500 is good for 500 lbs of torque so that will look after most of us.
Oh and as far as which one you like best, you will LOVE either of them, I assure you! Just talk to Richard or Gene at Keisler and they will recommend the best one for your setup.
Next thing is to convince my mechanic! A german dude that isn't convinced yet to help me to do the work.
Another question:
What can I install to make my brakes more powerful.
The car has the original brake installation but I installed BVP o-ring callipers and new shoes, but it´s not enough.
