My car is an 81 vette and it has a few problems like a dead miss under a load at idle. It has the stock quadrajet carb, I was told that that was probably my problem, but the vacuum system is very extensive so where should I begin troubleshooting?
Thanks,
ghostwhite
First off thats a Oxymoron. Idle is a no load condition. Putting a load on the engine is putting trans in gear
Start with Ignition.
Pull the plugs out and see if 1 is fouled.
Do a basic tune up Cap rotor Plugs wires.
General maintenance items first then start shotgun troubleshooting.

A vacuume leak can be found by spraying carb cleaner around suspect components/hoses idle should pick up if a leak is sprayed
