Default Which components?

Hi all,
We have decided to do an LT1 upgrade (but with auto) on our school 71 "Vette project. The car has a t-400 trans already, but I wonder about the engine. We want this to be identical in appearance and performance to a factory LT1, but are also trying to keep costs down.

We have the right 4bm block and a scat crank. Which pistons should we use use? What carb is used on the LT1? We do not want to shell out $600 for a genuine 1971 carb so we are wondering if there is a common Holley carb that was used on this so we can get a similar one without having to pay for matching numbers or date codes. Can a guy get the stock distributor with the tach drive? Would it hurt to upgrade to HEI, or is it best to stay box stock? Any help would be appreciated.

The stock carb is a 780 vacuum secondary dual feed carb. Yes there are plenty of carbs that look just like it in both vacuum if you want an identical or the double pump series. You can't tell with the air cleaner on. Both are dual feed which the factory carb was.
You can find a tach drive dist but there is a tach drive HEi availabe tha twill probably be cheaper and easeir to tune in tha n the stock unit. It will not look the same though as the HEI is bigger and may not fit with the factory air cleaner.
