Default Proportionong valve question

I had a leak in my proportioning valve which bled the lines dry. I removed it this moring and found the leak. Where the rear line screws into the valve there is a nut that can be removed from the valve itself. On a side of that nut there is a hole that is covered by a smallpiece of rubber. The rubber is held in place by a star washer. My star washer was missing and I had another to replace it with. What does this do? Is it a pressure relief valve or something? Would like to know what its purpose is.

Yes. The picture does not show the rear connection very well. I just can't figure out what the small hole is for.

A reset pin to reset the switch so the light goes off.

The rubber disc and star washer cover a vent hole for the spool valve inside the end plug. When the o'rings on the spool wear out, to avoid a hydraulic lock of the spool and resulting no proportioning function, the rubber disc blows out. What all this means is that your valve is warn out and needs to be replaced. This valve can not be rebuilt as it is pressed together.

Some of them used it as a reset.... I think it was the 70's series Pontiacs. I'll buy it though. Looks good.
