Cannot remove fixed antenna cable
Tried to replace shaft on antenna but cannot get old one out used vise grips cannot turn or pull out shaft. To replace cable seems to be the answer but can I splice new end of cable to existing cable rather than taking interior apart

Yes. But you have to get the right kind of connectors so you don't mess up the radio signals. With radio frequencies, wiring impedence is an important issue. Go to your local Radio Shack and ask for FM radio antenna feed wiring unions; these will connect existing wiring to new wiring. You may need to buy a special crimping tool (buy the cheap one!) to fix them to the wiring.
