Default #1 on distributor cap

Just want to confirm this since my dist is not marked. Is the #1 on the distributor the first one clockwise from the metal access plate for the points ? or is it the first one counter clockwise from the plate.
L48 stock 350 1974 conventional ignition

Thanks for the help

Yes. According to Lars tech paper. Clockwise for non corvette and counter-clock wise for corvettes with mechanical tach.

Been messin' with this all weekend. On mine the #1 terminal is the one almost directly above the slide door. #8 is the next one to the left.

I just had a dist. reconditioned by Lars and when he returned it the install paper was included. The dist was clocked differently by GM for the 68-74 vettes with mechanical tachs to prevent the stress on the tach cable. the vaccum can is rotated clockwise and the no.1 tower was the first one counter clock wise after the door. Sorry, I don't know where else to get the paper but to e-mail Lars directly. GL
Guess I was a little slow. The pic above shows the standard non mechanical tach orientation.
