My car has been sitting since 1999 and finally getting it going. Last night could not get the key out and found that the shift cable is kinking and binding. It was pretty cruddy, cleaned and lubed but still kinks when shifting. The cable has a permanent bend/kink at the shifter end. Is this a common problem due to dirt/age etc? I found the cable at Zip (ST-335) for $84.50 is this the best deal? At GM pars direct I can not select a year model older than 1980. I appreciate the help. I have the car running and almost ready to hit the road.
