Thats cool, wasn't a problem for me to fix. Yes, the Turbo 400 bolts directly on top of the cross member and the 350 uses an extension. I hope to have it on the road within the next few weeks. I am excited about trying my new set up.
Hi guys, I plan to do the keisler auto to 5 speed mod sometime soon myself and have a 77 with turbo 400 just not sure if I will need to weld on these "ears" or not that was being discussed in this thread, anyone having a pic to post so that I can get a feeling of what I am looking for would be of a great help to me as well ?
Thanks

Hmmm, just checked my late model 77 with turbo 400 and it has the crossmember ears even though they were obviously not being used.Maybe the 400 was swapped in before i bought the vette in early eighties.
At the time GM used what ever parts they had on the shelves that day. My car is a small block but my rear yokes are all the cap style used on big blocks and I am fairly sure my radiator also was for the big block, I have an extra row of tubes. Unless somebody swapped the body and engine onto another frame/chasis which is possible. Over the years of working on it I have run into a lot of quirky things. I have obvious signs of past body damage and repairs but none on the frame. Hmmm, New gas tank, missing braces on the rear bumpers, Hmmm.
Keith:
Seriously, do you have a picture you can post of the "ears" you had to weld on? I have been here for over 2 years now and know we have sold 1000's of vette kits with a large percentage of them being auto to manual swaps and I can honestly say without hesitation, I have never heard from anyone who had to do this. As particular as Corvette owners are, I don't believe there is any way possible for this to be a widespread issue and we didn't hear about it.
Can you help me out on this one? Did you own this car from day 1? No mods done to it from anyone other than yourself?
Richard
Richard,
Looks like you can add me to the list. I'm waiting on my flywheel which was backordered to continue the install on my TKO 500 in my '69 original TH400 car. Just saw this post and checked out my crossmember and as you can see looks like I have some tabs to weld too.

Note to self made.

If you have any questions regarding the install, as you can see, there is plenty of support and info here!
