Default Still Have Not Found Problem... HELP....

1977 Corvette L48
I don’t know what happened but I had the console and dash a part working on putting a new AC/Heater control in. I got it in and the fan is now working on all speeds. I then started working on the vacuum trying to get everything right I also had the center gage assy. out. I had started the car several times checking vacuum, I found a leak and fixed that. When I went to start it again I had NO power at all nothing. Just like the battery was out. I guess and HOPE that there is some type of master fuse some where. Can someone PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks

I have power at the battery, starter, wipper/AC relay but nothing at fues block in car and nothing at Alt. There is a red wire that goes through the firewall under the brake master cylinder where all the other wires go that also has power. What next? PLEASE HELP!!!!! If anyone that knows the electrical system that will let me call and talk to them please PM me with the phone number and I'll call
Thanks.

Check the fusable links at the starter.

How do I check the fusable links at the starter? the wire does not look burned. And I did not think I would have any power past the starter if it was bad.
Thanks

Do I just stick a test light through the wire insulation on each side of the white fues that says 16 on it?

The two wires coming from the batt post at the starter are the fusible links. About 6-8" from the starter there is a can looking thing 5/16 diameter and maybe 1/2" long. Anywhere above that, poke it with a testlight. No light=bad link.

Not sure about the 77 but my 69 feeds through the fuseable link to the Horn Relay, then out from there. Check for power there.

Your horn relay is under the speedo, but it's not relevent on a 77. Older cars use the engine bay mounted horn relay.

There are 2 fuseable links at the starter and one going to the fuse block connector under the master cylinder.
Sounds like the last one is bad. That connector there can get pretty funky too.

Usually on a fuseable link, the insulation doesn't break but the wire inside does and you can stretch the insulation a lot.

I saw a fuseable link on the drivers side inner fender near the Alt. Is this the one you are talking about that goes to the fuse box?

I did not see a fuseable link below the master cylinder. But there is one on the DS fenderwell near the Alt. I will be checking all the fuseable links I can fine until I find a blown one. Does anyone know if GM still offers replacement ones? Or can I just put a inline fuse in its place? What have you all done when they blow?
thanks

I believe that I recall reading here that fusible links in varying resistance are available from most good auto parts stores. Now, what is the resistance of the one you are checking? I can't answer that.

Let me suggest that you purchase an Assembly Instruction Manual and the GM Service Manual reprint. That way, you can search for how things are assembled and the Service Manual will tell you most of the "how to fix" things.

That's the one you should be looking at. Ohm it out for continuity.

Near the fuseblock/bulkhead connector there should be a connector on a large gauge wire. This corrodes and you will loose power at alternator and fuseblock.

You can replace links with manual reset breakers. Rule of thumb for a link is amps = 4x the wire size limit.

I do not think it would be the netural switch. if it was I should still have power inside and at the Alt. I also will take a good look for the link near the firewall below the master cylinder. thanks for the help and please keep it coming.
Thanks

I found the problem!!!!! I took my test light and started checking everything the fuse able links at the starter were okay. So I went from there when I was working I replaced the fan/wiper relay and I ha power there. But the next plug about 2-3" from there had a bad connection. So I fix that and power everywhere. Man am I HAPPY. Just wanted to say thanks to all that replied when things to check. I put my AC/Heater control assy in and checked all the vacc lines with a vacc pump everything fine there. Put everything back together and all is working fine inside the car. I did take some time and duck tape all the duck work to stop any leaks. I had about a 1 1/2" cap between the duck going to the defroster but not any more.
Thanks Again To All...
