About the 224/224 @ .50 cam. Should I go steeper than this? I calculated the cr to be about 9.1 to 1.

Don't go any further up in duration if you expect to have any lower
end torque with a 350.

Justin just got finished with my L48 rebuild. Just wondered were you were on your project. Last entry I saw was 2005, so you may have finished by now. I went with the L31 vortec Iron heads and it turned out way better than my expections. At a comfortable price I might add!!!!! Ground up took best part of 2 weeks, and that's including machine shop Parts ordering time. Mine is/was a stock 80 L48/auto.

If ya want 400 +HP, and still use a cam that talks, and still use you stock convertor let me on here if your interested.

cs xe268h-10.... I.224 X 230 @50 ..gross valve lift I. 477/X .480 ...LS 110 works great with automatic no stall convertor. Flat tops 2 reliefs. 64 cc chamber stock L31 Iron vortec heads on the gen 1 block. ...355 gear complete spec's at summit.

Had my cylinders bored .30 over to fit them and got a rebuild kit for another 100. And a new cam. Then I would be good to go. About how much is it to have the cylinders bored?
I'm in north GA. Last I bored was 10$ a hole, but thats been awhile. I checked out your piston and that will get the job done , but if its not to late I would consider the same in a Hypereutectic piston....Price is no were near the price of forged pistons.
Check out this site for additional info on there pistons. Federal Mogul ....good stuff at a fair price. I actually got a cheap set of new flat tops with the pins. They are federal mogul. The machine shop that I went to had them extra because a guy didn't end up using them he needed dished, so they cut me a deal on them 80 bucks for all 8 with the labor of installing the rods.
