Default I could be wrong?

Skunkworks: I always thought that a uniform controled burn was best?
Isn't detonation a drawn out process rather than a quick complete ignition? A better burn will require less advance.
My engine does best w/32*, more is not needed. As comp and rpm go up, the time allowed for combustion is limited. That's where I thought the longer rod/more burn helped. JMHO

I've never said there weren't given positives associated with improved rod/stroke ratios. I first used altered length rods over 25 years ago, and my next build is getting a set of non-oem length rods, too.

It's just that there are more significant factors at work here.

btw... Detonation is explosion of the air/fuel mixture, rather than a burn.
