Default trim rings on fleebay?

Has anyone bought the 360 degree clip trim rings on Ebay, they go for about $60.?
If so ...hows the fit, Crome or stainless steel?
Ecklers also sells them.

I don't know...but I've never been lucky enough to get "somethin' for nothin' ". Can't imagine they would be anything but flimsy sheet metal with a wisp of plating for that price.

I got the same set for my '77 about 3 months ago. They are "chrome plated...not stainless so I'll have to wait and see how they hold up to the elements. They look awesome, they fit great..tight...and the don't click when they roll like OEM four tabs do. (Or at least how mine did) The only thing I don't like about them is that the are a solid curve around the edges, unlike OEM that were a bit flatter and had an indention around the edges. It takes a vette person to notice...but...
My car is a driver, so $60.00 vs. $400.00+ was a no brainer.
I would call myself a "vette person" and I don't notice the difference except on waxing day...lol

Thanks C3bdj1,

Thats what I was wondering, for that kind of money its hard to pass-up.
I think I will order a set from Eklers. They look nice and if you loose one there cheap to replace.

I bought a set of the $60 ones for daily driving and they are okay but the edge is round and not flattened, can't tell from 3 feet away. They have been on my car for two years now and without any problems. Corvette Central have the cheapest OEM's, a friend bought a set from Ecklers and another from Corvette America and they are all the same. Corvette Central are the cheapest. The only difference I can see to NOS is the clip that is suppose to be near the valve stem hole isn't. For $190 odd bucks who cares.

Just my humble opinion...If I were you I would try to get those rings from E-bay. Mine were less than $60.00 including shipping. Ecklers is listing chrome plated for $69.99 or stainless steel for $79.99 for a set of 4. Plus you have the shipping charges. If you want the stainless, you can get them on E-bay as well for just a little more than the chrome. Just read the discription carefully to be sure you are getting "stainless steel" I suspect they all come out of the same factory no matter where you buy them.

IMHO....while stainless steel is potentially more corosion resistant than the chromed version, it really depends on the grade of stainless; 304-vs-316 etc and if it's electropolished or not, most of the stainless rings I have seen have a slight yellow tint to them after a few months when compared to the chrome ones. I own a set of each, the stainless ones live in a box on a high shelf in my garage.

I got the cheap chrome ones from Corvette Central 5-6 years ago. As long as you don't drive in the winter they will hold up fine. They are a tiny bit smaller in diameter then stock but I like the multi-clip alot better than the 4-clip because it won't interfere with the wheel weights. Check it out.............
